How can you see the results ?

Your mobile website is created in less then 15 minutes outlined in step 1. Now it is time to take a look at the results of your hard work. For a normal PC website it is quite easy: if you type in your favorite browser  www.yourdomainname.com  you will see your PC website. Now we need to make sure that if you direct your browser to for example  m.yourdomainname.com  it will actually show the mobile website. In order to activate this   m  in your domain-name for your mobile website we need to add the  m  record to your DNS settings.

Add a  m  CNAME record to your DNS

In order to correctly route HTTP traffic to your mobile website the DNS settings for the mobile domain must be configured correctly. To do this, you need to add a DNS record for the mobile domain according to the most appropriate scenario in the table below.

If you want to use a so called 3rd level domain name, for example:

  • m.example.com
  • mobile.example.com

Use a CNAME record to direct traffic to lb.site.mobi

Example:

m.example.com CNAME lb.site.mobi TTL 3600

If you want to use a so called 2rd level domain name, for example:

  • example.mobi
  • example.info
  • example.com

Use a CNAME record to direct traffic to lb.site.mobi

Example:

example.mobi CNAME lb.site.mobi TTL 3600
